Poor Parody Example

I hope you were not planning to write a parody like this.

These are lines written to the tune of the Green Day song Bang Bang, although I have done my best to make it so you do not have to know that song to get the point. The underlined green text is comments on the lyrics.

I got my torch and I wanna start a rage
I wanna attack like I’m in a video game
Added an extra syllable and broke the fourth wall unnecessarily
He got a fever for violent behavior
Breathed on him by the monster from below
What? Nobody knows what you are talking about. If this is supposed to be about Pirates of the Caribbean, it is fan fiction.
Bang bang!
Usually a parody should change the song title
Gimme fame! Shoot me up to innocence
This does not sound very innocent.
I am a semi-automatic cartoonist’s toy
Again, broke the fourth wall too openly
Not dead! Cartoonist forbid!
Give them death, don’t give them love
Disney’s little psycho and Navy’s little soldier
What does the Navy have to do with any of this?

Can’t justify by contract signed with Disney
But nobody has invented the radio (What?)
I want Squidbeard gone
Who? If you do not remember the name of the tentacle-faced antagonist, just say so!
Way off to Vietnam (Which was probably not called that in the 18th century)
I love it when he dies, just like everybody else
Too many syllables, and I am sure this is not true
Bang bang!
Gimme fame! Shoot me up to innocence
I am a semi-automatic cartoonist’s toy
Not dead! Cartoonist forbid!
Give them death, don’t give them love
I cannot lose, I am the cartoonist’s choice
I wanna be a pirate martyr
I do not think those words mean what you think they mean
The leading man in the cartoonist’s private drama
Hurrah, bang bang, hurrah, bang bang
The hero of the cartoonist
More like a villain!
Disney’s little psycho and Navy’s little soldier

I wanna be like the Homo sapiens on the screen
Too modern in more ways than one
It is time to get killing
Oh matey matey this is really what we want (not me)
Not their species
Does not rhyme or suit the old fashioned setting
All right, shoot them down!

I wanna be a pirate martyr
The leading man in the cartoonist’s private drama
Hurrah, bang bang, hurrah, bang bang
The hero of the cartoonist
Disney’s little psycho and Navy’s little soldier
I wanna be a pirate martyr
The leading man in the cartoonist’s private drama
Hurrah, bang bang, hurrah, bang bang
The hero of the cartoonist
Disney’s little psycho and Navy’s little soldier
Wrote out every single word every time it appears when you could have just put (Chorus) or [x2], thus taking up more space than necessary
