Styx II
(Note: This album is not to be confused with Styx, the album before it. If someone speaks the name of this album, take care not to hear Styx, too.
I know this can be a concern because I narrowly stopped my friend from downloading for me the wrong album!)
(Another note: If you got to know the original, vinyl record version of the album, or have read the Wikipedia article on the album, which is about that version of the album, there are two things different about the digital version of the album, which is what I have. First, the letters that spell the band name on the album cover are filled with a dull red texture, with yellow highlighting parts of it, instead of a picture of the band. Second is the inclusion of a bonus song, Unfinished Song, which apparently first appeared as the B-side of a single.)
Artist: Styx
Year: Recorded 1972, released 1973
Average fodder rating (out of 5): 4
Difficulty: Easy
As its name indicates, this was only the second album by Styx. Consequently, all the hallmarks of early works of an artist are there: simple words, limited lyrics, and fairly basic stories. The way the original artists got their feet wet is in turn well suited for parodists to train themselves on.
My own experience certainly supports that the album is generally workable. There was only one 5-fodder song, but it gave me much to think about and led me to make important decisions that affected my subsequent parodying as a whole. Also, of the tracks I used, there was only one song that fell short of 4 fodder, and that was because it was an anomaly.
Davy, the goal here was not to be funny so much as to set the tone for things to come.
