Billie Joe Armstrong parody lyrics

Afterworld

For use with Whole Wide World

(What does the markup on these lyrics mean?)

At the start of franchise time
The premise said to Davy
There’s only one girl in the world for you
She
is-the goddess of the-sea

Went to the aft - er - world
Went to the aft - er - world
Just to find her
Then-we had our own problems
Where the Caribbean Sea is blue
Skeletons in the tropical, moonlit night
Because
there-was-a curse-on the loot
Went to the aft - er - world
Went to the aft - er - world
But were not there
Went to the aft - er - world
Went to the aft - er - world
And then we came right back here Went to the aft - er - world
Went to the aft - er - world
But were not there
Why was he hanging around in the rain right here
Trying to pick up a girl?
Why
were his eyes filling up with these lonely tears?
Why was it the end-of the world?
Was she lying on the tropical beach somewhere
Under a tropical sun?

Hiding away in a heatwave there
Hoping that
he would be gone
He tried to get on that sunlit beach with her
To-see her warm, brown skin
And then in
10 years, or maybe not quite
Look at the-shape that he wound up in
Went to the aft - er - world
Went to the aft - er - world
Just to find her
Went to the aft - er - world
Went to the aft - er - world
But he did not stay put there
Went to the aft - er - world
Went to the aft - er - world
Just to find her
Went to the aft - er - world
Went to the aft - er - world
Now puts the rest of us there
Bleah!

Behind the scenes

I began making connections with the original song as soon as it came out, but was often sidetracked. I finally completed the job on it in July 2024.
