Gin Blossoms parody lyrics

Pieces of Eight

For use with Pieces of the Night

(What does the markup on these lyrics mean?)

Is it any wonder that the stars are now so familiar
When we always use-our sextant in our search for things-we like
But it looks-like a-drink’s it this time
What the hell did you expect to find
Spending-the-day with a bar stool by your side

To - night we go
After
things-that may-be-good to know
Somewhere in the distance
, out - side
Where I saw a watermill, rainfall
Do you not remember what we found?
All-those pieces of eight

And is it any wonder I take a good look around
From the sea we have traveled on
To see what’s on the ground
You may want to be where you are
But it
looks like treasure is afar
This calls for travel
We-will be going by the stars

The sail - ing distance
Is now only half the night away
From a point-that we plan-to come to
Is it any wonder where
Map says of we are halfway there
