Styx parody lyrics
Sailor Dear
For use with Mother Dear
(What does the markup on these lyrics mean?)
We’re going to the city
Walking in past the crumbling walls
(This) subject makes a different melody
Old reason for it all
We came in to the docks here
So we will-not go blind
Or have a heart be fool’s treasure
Sailor dear we saved our mindsHere’s my room
Put out lights
Sailor dear I’m turning-in (for) the-night
Safe from reasons
For concern
Sailor dear our tum - mies will not churnI keep my heart-in for survival
Keeping squid out of my face
I need the comfort of real - ism
I’m coming to go from disgrace
As I make time pass with you
Don’t discount my gratitude
You’re responsible for safe - ty
From a certain crazy attitudeStay enough of the night
Until-we are past worry of the blight
Behind the scenes
- The first draft of this parody was written in July 2014 as part of the parody album of Equinox.
- However, like most of the parodies I had written up to that point, it was not publishable in its original form. Two things had to be changed come June 2017. First was insulting the crew of the Flying Dutchman as
things that never learn.
The other problem was use of a fan made name for the captain of the Dutchman.
