Styx parody lyrics
The Things Worsen Days
For use with Sing For The Day
(What does the markup on these lyrics mean?)
(The) things wor - sen days
(The) things wor - sen moments
(The) things worsen any time of your life
Run for cove - er
Stay for a moment
Stay for the best of your lifeYou are with me in my-ship wherever I go
To the ends of the earth and all points between that I know
Each night is time to gaze at the appearing stars
The ever intangible guide
Sextant in line will find-our way
For I know how to use and it’s leading me onHelp in getting inspiration’s bound to be you
And as we’re sailors-and leader are bound in our search for what (to) do
And after the nonsense ticked us off
Try our hardest to-be clear
Do not be like the vague Disney
I need you as much as you think you need me
Come to the porthole tonight and we’ll buy into your dreams
Helpful (you) don’t fail me
I need you and have before
Since (the) times I had been losing my meals
(Hiding) behind a door
Every one says
We are not going to have those barn - acle faced
They are just all grow - ing dis - grace
No body I know is ug - li - er than whom mer - ges octo - pus and crab all dress - ed up in blue
And I’m honestly hoping crew’ll always be there
Behind the scenes
- The first draft of this parody was written in spring 2014 as part of the parody album of Pieces Of Eight.
- However, like many of the parodies I wrote in the first seven months of that year, it was not publishable the first time around. To make it so, I had to rewrite two verses in June 2017. The section now about the sextant was originally fan fiction based on comic strips I had drawn in which the captain of the protagonists (based on Jack) blending into the jungle by dressing as a palm tree. The connection to the strip got even worse at the end where the dissing of mutants was presented as a quote from
the cartoonist.
