I may not please everyone, but at least I pleased myself.
A sort of fictionalized take on my parodying the Journey album Frontiers.
Confusing was just the thing nobody needed, which was why songs that fit that description were not high fodder.
For that reason, no jaw-dropping occurred over the title song of Frontiers. A technical jive?
Even at the time, that meant nothing.
But a certain captain realized not all the album was like that.
What was hoped for, Chain Reaction ended up serving what was commanded pretty thoroughly. Its overall premise barely had to change to fit in the pirate age, embedding all kinds of things the Crew looked for in a song.
An impossible and, at least at first, interesting vessel was running under she who had conversations about what to do with characters. My ship of the imagination, ever more so imaginative, I take.
She was talking with characters on board while it was in what they called the form we recognize,
which was of a sailing ship. It could change, limited only by the fact that Buccaneer Blue would never let it take whatever form suited ballads, rapping music, country, or any other genre she was not into. It could become a spaceship when no characters were setting foot on it. The times when her former employees set foot on it were the worst, as back then it was permitted only one form ever - a Lego sailing ship.
Now her crew was sitting on what many pieces of furniture the cabin, a good place to not install a pipe organ, had.
You’re funny, even about the devil himself,
she got the lot of these, who listened to her much better than their predecessors, hearing. All eyes were on the love song Separate Ways, intending to turn it on its head.
It was like a gem, that line You are caught up in the power
in Edge Of The Blade. Able to relate, the Crew were on the job.
Always in reasonably serious regard of what they did, a few of the crew of the Black Pearl held back from the challenge of Rubicon. But their employer showed them how overthrowing it was possible: Rubies and Coins!
Bits of Troubled Child drew the Crew like shiny crystals. Words that also related to those who had attacked them - the moon, if one wanted to go back to the first movie, stuff about being troubled and a heart, to have connections to the second film. All stood aside, not interrupting the good work.
Like a dying wind, the need to rhyme frontiers
slowed down those who were doing relative justice to songs, or at least not the injustice done by their predecessors. And then their employer shouted a rhyme for them: Careers!
It had been a while since that brat, Jack Spasm, last parodied*, before he was dumped in preference to the da’ who was becoming a barnacled madman but still might do a good deed if asked to join such endeavors**.
Having reached a satisfactory end to the private work, Blue put her parodies on paper and grinned. Perhaps even pirates benefited from everything being unsheathed in the end.
No particular bewilderment was being expressed by the readers, as they knew what Blue would not do, the aforementioned while being long enough.
All of us are certain we are winning, and that lyrics of other song will attract our attention like bright mercury shine,
the crew members were thinking.
Now for something quite unique among these stories.
