Assessment of suitability for parodying

General

Overall this is a simple song, with the main drawback to parodists being its topical nature. It is about a nuclear holocaust, and you need to know the context of the 1980s, when such a thing was widely and actively feared, to be able to figure that out. It is not a 1-fodder, but, well. . .

Black Pearl crew-specific

While the general theme of tragedy allowed the Crew to work with the song okay, they had no context for what it was about, which always puts a speed bump on the road to figuring the parody out. What is this about the man on the wireless? What does that mean? pre-20th century characters wonder.
