Assessment of suitability for parodying

General

Few songs are this daunting. Given the impossible-to-rhyme words that appear in the title, as well as its length, seeing the song in a track listing is all it takes to know it will be a challenge. I do have to give it this, though - at least it consists mostly of easy lines with the occasional difficult bit, rather than the rapid-fire of polysyllabic words several songs from 21st Century Breakdown were.

Black Pearl crew-specific

There were some things in the song that required little or no change. Not sure that made up for all the hard stuff, but that, coupled with my generally having the right kind of personality to lend myself to Green Day songs, meant that in spite of it all, I was able to write something that serves the same purpose in its album as the original song.

Behind the scenes

Pirates of the Caribbean was actually my second parody of this song. The first was Can’t Be a Sea Monster, which does not appear on my site, because I did not think it was all that good.
