First thing you need to realize is that this song is not an instrumental - which is easy to think at first, as it has one of the longest stretches before the lyrics start of any song I know (right up there with that of Just Get Through This Night, and this is a much shorter song!). After all that, naturally the song cannot have very many lyrics, but that makes them easy to memorize. As for actually using them, that is largely a matter of niche appeal.
Goodness, almost as soon as the lyrics finally do start, this is Davy Jones losing his love. It is so in all kinds of ways. Self-destruction, bleeding, anguish, confusion, so sick - all these things come like rapid fire. The entire part about disposition being eaten away ended up remaining unchanged, too.
Even so, there is no such thing as an 8-fodder song, so try to keep the fodder rating and the track number on the album straight!
