This is admittedly a rather odd song, about flirting with someone who is not warm or sentimental. The words themselves are, however, not too problematic, either in qualities or quantity.
Not wanting your feet on the ground meant being up in the air in the original lyrics, but was also applicable to turning into a sea creature. Then it said this person did not feel the pain, which seems to be the case with Davy Jones considering he managed to get his heart out. Following this lyric, it gets even more relevance with the line Your desire is insane.
Then there is a love, but not one that will last. Finally, that whole part about being extreme, temperamental, and not warm or sentimental. It all works.
